Nature’s Nutrition is primarily a whole food shop selling high quality ethical foods and refillable liquids. We have a selection of supplements, essential oils and plastic free household items. One of our members likes to describe us as a very small, alternative supermarket. For a compact shop we pack a lot in, you’ll be surprised what you can find.
We stock organic, vegan, dairy free, and gluten free options – but be warned we do also stock a few less than healthy treats (we can’t all be good 100% of the time!). Our main focus is whole foods so if you’re looking for diabetic treats, please be aware we don’t stock anything with artificial sweeteners.
We are investing in your community
All our business decisions are made with the environment/climate change and the overall health of our community in mind. As previously mentioned we aren’t 100% perfect…..but we’re working on it!
We are a co-operative and Community Benefit Society which aims to support the local community.
Currently this means connecting with and helping other local projects, attending events, listening to you - our customers, and responding to what you think the community needs most.
Our two members of staff, Nicola and Rebecca, are not trained pharmacists or herbalists and therefore are unable, by law, to recommend any supplements. Here are the links to the online support pages for our stockists:
The History of our Co-op
There has been a Nature’s Nutrition on Mill Street in Bideford for many years. Until 2017 Nature’s Nutrition was run as a private business first by mother and daughter Annie & Sam and then husband and wife Charlotte & Martin.
In 2016 it was decided to bring together an enthusiastic team of volunteers to explore the possibility of turning Nature’s Nutrition into a Co-operative. It took a lot of time, research, fundraising, hard work and help from several third sector organisations to get the new incarnation of Nature’s Nutrition up and running.
If you ever wondered who the people memorialised on the arch in our shop are, they are the original crowdfunders that helped the doors reopen in 2017.
Those doors were reopened in May 2017 and Nature’s Nutrition celebrated its fifth birthday in May of 2022 with cake and a small members get together.
